Storyline Osmanthus Alley

Osmanthus Alley is a narrow, atmospheric old pedestrian thoroughfare lined with stalls selling all manner of edible goodies flavored with guihua niang (honey flavored with osmanthus flowers): cakes, tea, ice cream, and even vinegar. Look out for bottles of the delicious flower-infused nectar for sale in shops both here and elsewhere in the village.

Sweet Osmanthus Alley is actually quite short, but its one of our favorite old streets in Taiwan because it is quite atmospheric, and when we visited on a very quiet, rainy weekday we found the vendors there to be especially warm and welcoming, even by Taiwanese standards.
Osmanthus fragrans does indeed have extraordinary fragrance. I clearly remember the first time I met it, at my friend's house, years ago. She introduced us. I purred. Now I have one and it seems to be happy where I've put it, so I'm hoping for blooms this winter. I am working on another spot where I can put another one.
